This project focuses on designing a futuristic seating piece inspired by biomimicry, reimagining the future of furniture through nature’s intelligence. It draws on natural systems, forms, and processes to inform ergonomic and anthropometric solutions, resulting in a seating design that is adaptive, sustainable, and forward-thinking. Named after the traditional Emirati floor cushions, Takya celebrates heritage and comfort through a modern, multifunctional design. The logo, an abstract representation of a nakhla (palm tree), symbolizes resilience and rootedness. This piece merges timeless Emirati traditions with contemporary flexibility, functionality, and sustainability. Inspired by the palm tree, the ergonomic backrest mimics palm fronds, while the base and sliding mechanism reflect its roots and natural shedding. Designed to transform from an armchair to floor seating with an integrated table, Takya adapts seamlessly to various needs. Soft, takya-style cushions complete the design, honoring the essence of Emirati gatherings through comfort and cultural authenticity.
